Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Dawgs split Saturday doubleheader at Garaway; travel to play Morgan on Monday, April 15

Coach Laura Seward’s Tri-Valley varsity softball team traveled to Garaway on Saturday, April 13 for a non-league double header with host Garaway, then a second-game with non-conference rival, River View.

In the first game, the Lady Dawgs won their 13th game of the 2019 season, whipping the host Lady Pirates 17-3, then dropped the second game of the twin-bill, getting shutout by a 4-0 count by the Lady Bears.

In the Garaway win, the victorious Lady Dawgs scored a run apiece in the first two innings, then plated nine big runs in the third inning, and a decisive six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the 17-3 win.

Lady Dawg senior Hannah Worthington led the 18-hit TV attack with a big day at the plate, getting four hits to include a pair of singles, a double, then a grand slam home run for a hefty five-rbi performance.

Fellow TV senior Janessa Dawson got the mound win for the Lady Dawgs with her complete game seven-hit, and no walk effort, and added two hits at the plate as well.

Two more Lady Dawg seniors – Savannah Shumway and Kearstin Dumolt – added round-trippers for the winners, who also got a three-hit game from Vanessa Ashcraft, and two-hit efforts from Reagan Baughman and Brynn Miller as well.

In the River View loss, Tri-Valley managed just five hits – singles from Alex Lemley, Hannah Worthington, Savannah Shumway, Brooke Hunter, and Maddy Wortman.  TV’s Brynn Miller was tagged with the mound loss, but did strike out six Lady Bears.

The Lady Dawgs jump back into MVL play on Monday, April 15, with a bus ride to McConnellsville to battle the Morgan Lady Raiders, then return home on Thursday, April 18 to host the New Lexington Lady Panthers.
