Tuesday night in Dresden at The Dawg House, the defending MVL champ Sheridan Lady Generals came to town, and left with a hard-earned 18-25, 23-25, 20-25 win, handing the Lady Dawgs their first loss of the 2019 season in conference play.
The loss dropped Coach Aubrey Painter’s Lady Dawg netters to 3-1 in Muskingum Valley League action and 4-2 overall, while Sheridan stayed perfect on the season, now 7-0 overall and 4-0 in circuit play.
Statistically for Tri-Valley, Abby Stanford led the way with 1 ace, 2 blocks, 1 solo block, 7 digs, and 5 kills, followed by: Madi Bobo (18 digs), Riley Albertson (14 assists, 7 digs), Hannah King (9 digs, 6 kills), Kendra Thomas (8 assists), and Reece Smalley (4 blocks, 2 solo blocks, and 1 kill).
Sheridan’s Grace Conrad led the winners with 6 kills, 15 assists, and 100% serving, followed by Lady Generals Kendyl Mick, (9 kills, 5 digs), Ally Perkins (11 kills), Brooklyn Heller (6 kills, 5 digs), Grace Dowdell (13 assists), and Julia Finck (17 digs).
The visitors also took a junior varsity win back home to Thornville with them, defeating the host Lady Dawgs JV 16-25, 25-23, 15-25.
Tri-Valley was led by Aubrey Fritter (1 ace, 18 assists, 9 digs), Brooke Kozusko (15 digs), Katya Liber (1 ace, 5 kills), and Kendall Baughman (4 kills). Sheridan’s Abby Dupler led the winners with 7 kills and 2 digs, followed by: Rily Rodich (12 digs, 2 kills), Kinze Miller (8 digs), Alexis Bradley (16 assists), and Clare Finck (9 assists).
The Lady Dawgs look to get back on the winning track when they return to action on Thursday, September 5, on the road at conference foe West Muskingum, then travel to Dover Saturday, for a JV and varsity match with the host Lady Tornadoes.
