Saturday, September 28, Coach Sarah Meadows’ Tri-Valley boys and girls cross-country teams competed at the annual Cambridge Invitational.
Scottie senior distance ace Ryan Meadows (pictured below) paced the boys team to a third place finish in the nine-team field in the large school division race, besting the 80-runner strong field by over a minute with his first place time of 16:46.
St. Clairsville won the team title with 62 points with Indian Valley second (82 points) and the Scotties third place (92 points), while MVL foes Morgan (140) and John Glenn (149) were sixth and seventh, respectively.
Tri-Valley’s Ty Shawger (pictured below) finished fifth (18:26), Brannon Miller 20th (19:33), Luke Wilkinson 28th (19:53) and Jonathan Barker 39th (20:52) to round out the scoring.
In the girls large school division, Tri-Valley finished in fourth place with 101 points, John Glenn sixth (132) and Morgan eighth (174). Carrollton won the girls large school division race with 66 points.
Lady Dawg distance runner Riley Moore (pictured below) placed 11th in the 89-strong runner field, with her time of (22:10), Skyley Jacobs (pictured below) was 17th (22:59), Josey Johnson 21st (23:10), Hainsley Hatfield 24th (23:25) and Starley Jacobs 28th (23:50) for Tri-Valley.
The Scotties compete next on Wednesday night, October 2, at the annual ‘Back Woods Fest’ two-miler under the lights, then aren’t back in action until the regular season ending Muskingum Valley League Meet on October 12 at FoxFire High School.
