Coach Kurt Kaufman’s Tri-Valley’s girls basketball team boarded the bus Monday night, Dec. 21 for a road trip to New Philadelphia, and returned to TVHS later that night with a victory – a 61-55 win over a competitive Lady Quaker team.
The win improved the Lady Dawgs to 7-2 overall on the 2020-21 season.
Tri-Valley sophomore standout Lexi Howe led the way for the winners, scoring in every quarter and connecting for a game-high 21 points.
The Lady Dawgs led at every break – 21-15, 34-23, and 46-39 – but never could quite shake the hustling Lady Quakers, who knew how to put the ball through the hoop as well, getting double-figure scoring from Alyssa Miller and Ajia Schreffler with 14 points and Lily Goodwin with 13 counters.
TV’s Riley Tracy added 13 points for the winners, while Anna Krupa and Eva Dittmar tacked on seven counters each, and Janie McLoughlin six for the black and gold.
The Lady Dawgs fell to New Philadelphia 47-39 in the junior varsity contest. Kylan Brock and P.D. Moore led Tri-Valley with 10 points each, while Tori Kaiser’s 14 and Hannah Daniel’s 8 points each led the winners.
Tri-Valley closes out the calendar year 2020 portion of their season on Wednesday night, Dec. 30, hosting the Dublin Jerome Lady Celtics in Dresden at The Dawg House.
