Coach Kurt Kaufman’s TVHS Lady Dawg hoopsters improved their 2020-21 overall season record to 16-3 – and Muskingum Valley League mark to 8-2 – with a Monday night, Feb. 8, 58-47 win in Dresden at The Dawg House over the visiting Morgan Lady Raiders.
The Lady Dawgs led at every break (17-9, 30-21, and 49-34) in earning the win in their final regular-season game at home, with a home post-season game at TVHS on the books for Thursday night, Feb 25.
TV sophomore guard Lexi Howe led the winners with 19 points, followed by Riley Tracy with 15, and eight points apiece from Anna Krupa and Tailor Dupler. Morgan was led by Odessa Smith with 17 and Sophia Smith’s 16 points.
Tri-Valley won the junior varsity contest by a 65-28 count over Morgan. The balanced winners were led in scoring by P.D. Moore with 14 points, Olivia Rapol’s 12, Karlee Rose with 10 counters, eight from Belle Baughman, seven points from Sami Cameron, five apiece out of Lexi Littick and Kendall Baughman, and four points from Frazeysburg’s Zoey Zeman. Morgan’s Lill Gorell led the Lady Raiders with nine points and Denea Worley with six.
Tri-Valley was scheduled to hop on the tournament trail on Saturday, Feb. 20 vs. Beaver Local in Dresden at The Dawg House, but a COVID-19 related issue has knocked Beaver Local out of post-season play, handing the Lady Dawgs a Sectional title, and a new date for their tourney opener – a district semi-final game to be played at TVHS On Thursday night, Feb. 25 with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off vs. the winner of the Zanesville-East Liverpool game.
On Saturday, Feb. 13, Tri-Valley hits the road for the regular-season finale at Maysville. The Lady Dawgs defeated the Lady Panthers in Round 1 of MVL ‘Big School’ divisional play, 61-49 in Dresden, back on Dec. 5.
